Last Sunday we decided to forego church in order to avoid the swine flu epidemic in our neighboring town. Instead, we sought our spiritual nourishment on a hike along the river, which included picking wild plums and breathing deeply of the crisp, early fall air. Every time I go outside for a good length of time I am reminded how much I need it, how much I thrive on it. My shoulders and back were killing me from wearing Elias for so long in the front pack, but my soul felt clean. It was a marvelous way to spend a fine fall morning as a family
